Benefits of Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT)

Quickly Take Back Control of Your Life
Medication Assisted Treatment can help patients quickly achieve stability, allowing them to work on their recovery without feeling like they are sacrificing things such as family, work, or school.

Our goal is to help you!

Our medications can be tapered slowly to limit withdrawal symptoms and to go at a pace that feels comfortable to you.

The initial daily dosing allows patients to eventually earn take-home doses as they accomplish the goals of their treatment plan. This more structured approach is ideal for patients as they begin their recovery.

Daily Interactions and Accountability
Daily interactions with our treatment team is an integral part of the recovery process for many patients as they begin their treatment. Sober living can be a major adjustment. Our team will work with you to devise a treatment plan that will change as you change. Seeing us every day and being held accountable to work on your recovery will drastically reduce the likelihood of falling back into old habits.
Proven Treatment Method
MAT has been proven effective to treat drug addiction for over 6 decades. We encourage our patients to make their goal achieving a sober life, but there is plenty of empirical evidence that a person can live a healthy and long life while on Methadone or Suboxone.
Methadone and Suboxone
Methadone and Suboxone are longer acting medications that assist in restoring balance to the brain and allow a dependent patient to focus on repairing their life and engaging in health activities. Both medications are daily, synthetic, long-acting opioid medications that eliminate both physical and psychological withdrawal symptoms, including cravings and the sensation of "getting high". Both are FDA approved medication for treatment of opioid dependence and almost every insurance company covers these treatments.

Methadone is the most widely used medication for the treatment of opioid addiction over the last 60 years.
Narcan (Naloxone)
Narcan (Naloxone) is a medication used to reverse opioid overdoses. It is a life-saving medication that can quickly restore the breathing of a person experiencing an opioid overdose. Opioids are a group of drugs that include heroin and prescription medications like oxycodone, hydrocodone, morphine, and fentanyl.

Anyone can carry and use Narcan and you don't need a prescription from your doctor. Bonsai Health offers Narcan to its patients and family members to ensure that they can respond to an overdose.
